Country guides
- Singapore passport photo: 35 × 45 mm. 400 × 514 px for ICA e-Services uploads.
- US passport photo: 51 × 51 mm. 600 × 600 px (the State Department’s digital-image minimum; maximum 1200 × 1200).
- Schengen visa photo: 35 × 45 mm. 413 × 531 px (35 × 45 mm at 300 dpi, for printing; there is no single EU-wide pixel size).
What it does
The tool crops and scales your photo to the exact proportions of the document you choose, draws a guide for the head size (and the eye line where the authority publishes one), gives a rough hint about whether the background looks plain and light, and exports either a single photo or a sheet of copies on 4 × 6 in or 10 × 15 cm paper, the standard size at photo kiosks and print shops.
How it works
- Your photo is read from disk into memory and drawn on an HTML canvas. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- The crop frame has the document’s aspect ratio. Moving and zooming changes how the photo sits inside the frame; the output is rendered straight from the original pixels at the target size.
- The background hint samples the strips along the top and upper sides of the crop and measures brightness, colour and how even they are.
- Downloads are fresh JPEG files made by the canvas, so the original EXIF data (including any GPS location) is not carried over.
Limits you should know about
- The guide is a guide, not a guarantee. The tool does not detect faces. You line the head up yourself, and an official will decide whether the photo is accepted.
- The background check is a heuristic. It can say a background looks dark, busy or tinted; it cannot see shadows on the face, glare on glasses or a tilted head.
- No retouching, by design. Authorities reject edited or filtered photos, so the tool only crops, scales and straightens by a few degrees. It does not replace backgrounds.
- Print at actual size. Print the sheet at 100% on 4 × 6 in or 10 × 15 cm photo paper. “Fit to page” will change the size.
- HEIC is not read directly. Convert it first with the HEIC to JPG converter.
- Rules change. Each country page lists the official sources we used; check them before you apply.
Everything here is free. An optional higher-resolution export may be added later; it is not available today.
Verify there are no uploads
Open developer tools (F12), go to the Network tab, clear it, then add a photo and download the results. The list stays empty: the photo is read and cropped by code already loaded with this page. Our verification guide has the details.
Frequently asked questions
Is my photo uploaded?
No. It is cropped on a canvas in your browser and saved as a local download. You can check the Network tab, or go offline after the page has loaded and it still works.
Will my photo be accepted?
We cannot promise that. The tool gets the size and proportions right and helps you place the head, but lighting, expression, glasses, shadows and background are judged by the issuing authority.
Can it remove or whiten the background?
No. Passport authorities generally reject digitally altered photos, so the tool deliberately does not edit the background. Take the photo against a plain white or light wall instead.
How do I print the sheet?
Download the print sheet and print it at a photo kiosk or shop as a 4 × 6 in (10 × 15 cm) photo at 100% size, then cut along the grey lines.
Which countries are supported?
Singapore passport (35 × 45 mm), US passport (2 × 2 in) and Schengen visa (35 × 45 mm). More sizes may follow.
Does the download keep my phone’s location data?
No. The output is a new JPEG drawn from pixels, so EXIF data such as GPS is not copied.
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no paid tier today.
